Redevelopment of an existing commercial building, re-purposed as a high quality residential project.

HOW WE RESHAPED THE VISION

Our delivery expertise underpinned the successful delivery of an award winning project that involved the construction of 7 new stories on an existing 7 storey commercial building. The finished city-style high rise yielded 176 Apartments, luxury resident’s lounge, ground floor office suites and onsite car parking in St Kilda Road.

FOR THIS PROJECT
  • Existing conditions created construction challenges: A live design sign-off process was instigated to enable emerging issues to be resolved and processed with minimum time and cost impact.
  • The existing building identified strongly as a commercial office: Applied residential elements facilitated an efficient build and repositioned the building for domestic use.
  • New planning policy obligations were applied to the project: We negotiated with Council to resolve the intent of the conditions, and facilitate compliant resolution and timely implementation.
  • The client needed a delivery team who would ensure completion of a unique, high quality project: The building was awarded a commendation in the Australian Institute of Architects Awards 2013: Residential Architecture - Multiple Housing category.
